With over 40 years in the financial services industry, Sheila has extensive experience leading finance, actuarial, risk management and pricing functions. As well she has a strong knowledge of the individual life and health insurance and individual wealth businesses in Canada.

Sheila retired from Equitable Life in 2023 following seven years as Chief Financial Officer where she was accountable for the oversight of all aspects of financial management for the company including financial reporting and analysis, risk and capital management, actuarial oversight, internal audit and corporate tax. Under her leadership, the Company successfully transitioned to the regulatory capital regime (LICAT) in 2018 and to the new accounting standards (IFRS 17&9) in 2023, a multi-year project requiring a complete overhaul of financial and actuarial systems and processes.

Prior to joining Equitable Life in 2016, Sheila held several leadership roles at Manulife across finance, pricing and risk management including an international assignment in Asia.  

Sheila is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) and Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries (FCIA) and holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Toronto.
