Neil Parkinson is a corporate director, professional accountant and consultant with more than 40 years of experience in serving insurance and other financial services organizations. He was a partner in KPMG LLP until his retirement in 2016, and was national leader of the firm's insurance practice, deputy chair of KPMG's global insurance contracts accounting technical committee, chair of the Insurance Auditors Advisory Committee for the Superintendent of Financial Institutions Canada and member of the Canadian Accounting Standards Board’s Insurance Accounting Task Force.
Neil brings extensive experience in governance and regulatory matters pertaining to insurance organizations and has led key projects and independent assessments of risk management practices for leading Canadian insurers.
Neil is currently on the boards of Equitable Life Insurance Company of Canada, Sagen MI Canada Inc. (formerly Genworth), Gore Mutual Insurance Company and the University of Guelph, and the Actuarial Profession Oversight Board.
Neil holds a Bachelor of Mathematics degree from the University of Waterloo, is a Fellow of the Chartered Professional Accountants in Ontario and holds a ICD.D designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors.
