Dr. David Markwell is an experienced and strategic business and technology leader. He is currently the Executive Vice President, Chief Technology and Analytics Officer at Loblaw Companies and is a member of the Loblaw Management Board and an officer of President’s Choice Bank.
David currently serves on the partnership advisory council for two leading Canadian technology focused venture capital funds, Wittington Ventures and Radical Ventures, and serves as Board Director of the federal supercluster focused on AI and supply chain, Scale.ai. He is also an Adjunct Professor at the Smith School of Business at Queen’s University and the Schulich School of Business at York University, where he teaches technology strategy, innovation and applications of AI at the graduate level.
David holds a Bachelor of Applied Science and Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Toronto, an MBA from the Schulich School of Business, a Doctor of Business Administration from Athabasca University and is a member of the Professional Engineers of Ontario (P. Eng), the Chartered Professionals Accountants of Ontario (CPA), the Project Management Institute (PMP) and the Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD.D).
