Barry McInerney is the Founder and CEO of McInerney Consulting Group, an advisory firm specializing in the areas of strategy, governance, and leadership. He is a leader in the investment industry with more than 30 years of experience leading Canadian, US and global investment companies. Barry is also a frequent speaker on the topics of global investment, demographic, geo-economic and capital market trends.
After a six-year tenure as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Mackenzie Investments, Barry retired in June 2022. Prior to that, he was Co-Chief Executive Officer of BMO Global Asset Management, Managing Director for Russell Investments, and held a number of senior leadership positions at Mercer Inc.
Barry currently serves on the Board of Equitable, chairs the Board of Directors of TOBAM, and chairs the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management Dean’s Advisory Board.
Barry is a graduate of the Master of Business Administration and Bachelor of Commerce programs from the University of Toronto – Rotman School of Management. He also holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) and Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries (FCIA) designations.
