Equitable Life of Canada announced today the launch of EZClaim 2.1, an enhanced version of its popular mobile app.

With the upgraded app, Equitable Life plan members can now access their benefits cards on their supported Apple®, Android® and BlackBerry® devices.

“Plan members no longer need to dig through their wallets when they visit their dentist or pharmacist,” said Norma Crouse, Assistant Vice-President, Group Claims and Administration at Equitable Life. “They can display their own card, their spouse’s card or cards for any overage or disabled dependent children right on their mobile device to easily provide coverage details to health providers.”

For added convenience, plan members have the ability to email their benefit cards right from their smartphone. They will also have the option to view their benefits card without signing into the app, allowing easy access whenever they need to provide their coverage information.

EZClaim Mobile 2.1 is also more intuitive. For example, the app now:

  • Remembers the plan member’s username and allows them to reset or change their password;
  • Saves coordination of benefits (COB) information and remembers it next time they make a claim;
  • Allows plan members to edit their mailing address on their smartphone; and
  • Provides clearer instructions on how to submit claims.

“Equitable Life was among the first group benefits providers in Canada to launch a mobile app when it introduced EZClaim mobile in 2011,” noted Dave Bennett, Senior Vice-President, Group Benefits at Equitable Life.  “Since then, it has proven very popular among plan members. More than 40% of our claims are submitted via the app.”

With EZClaim mobile, plan members can submit all types of health and dental claims, even Health Care Spending Account (HCSA) claims and COB claims for which the Equitable Life plan is the second payer.

Plan members simply download the app and sign in to their Equitable Life account. From there, the user-friendly app leads plan members through a quick claim submission process. They simply complete the claim by snapping a photo of their receipt with their smartphone and clicking “submit.”

EZClaim Mobile 2.1 is available for download from iTunes, GooglePlay or BlackBerry World.
