October 1, 2018 - Let’s stay in touch!
Canada Post and its unionized employees are still in talks to negotiate a new contract, so a strike has been averted for now. If current negotiations are unsuccessful, however, there could still be a future interruption in mail service.
We’re watching the situation closely and we’re taking steps to ensure we continue to serve our customers and business partners in the event of an interruption in mail service.

Equitable Life has electronic options that make doing business with us easy and seamless, even if there is a postal strike. If you’ve already signed up for our e-services, there’s no need to change anything. If you haven’t yet, here’s how you can avoid any interruption in service should there be a strike:
- If you’re already an individual insurance or investment client, use Equitable Client Access® to sign up for electronic access to your statements, letters, and policy information electronically.
- Group Plan Administrators can avoid interruptions in service by signing up for and using our e-services available through EquitableHealth.ca, including paperless billing and pre-authorized debit.
- Group Plan Members can avoid disruptions by submitting their claims electronically with EZClaim® either online or with the mobile app. They can also activate their online plan member account and register for Direct Deposit and Electronic Explanations of Benefits.
We’ll let you know if anything changes. In the meantime, please avoid putting time sensitive items in the mail until a new contract between Canada Post and its employees is finalized.
