The British media recently carried a story about The Equitable Life Assurance Society (Equitable Life) in the U.K. reimbursing policy holders who lost their savings when the company was in financial difficulties during the 1980s and 1990s.

To clarify, the Equitable Life Assurance Society based in the U.K. is in no way associated with Equitable Life of Canada. Unfortunately, the company is also referred to as Equitable Life, which causes confusion as a result of media coverage about this and other company news.

We hope this clarifies any confusion.
