June 30, 2011 - Equitable Life of Canada has taken the next step in its
health and wellness solutions that matter™ strategy by introducing
an online Health Assessment Tool to help Plan Members better
understand and manage their health.
Plan Members respond to a series of straightforward
questions regarding health indicators as well as their health
preferences (nutrition, exercise, and/or workplace sponsored
events) through a user-friendly online platform. This feedback can
then be used to support group benefit and wellness resource
decisions and efforts.
This can strike an effective balance between the
employer's need for benefits cost management while providing
practical and useful health tools that show Plan Members that their
health is valued.
"This is not your typical, static health assessment
product that often sits unused by Plan Members," explains Martin
Chung, AVP Strategic Health Management - Group, Equitable Life of
Canada. "We have partnered with Ceridian Canada to develop a
Health Assessment Tool that not only encourages Plan Members to
take control and understand their personal health situation, but
also provides Plan Members and their employer with useful guidance
in health management options."
While all individual Plan Member Health Assessment
responses and information remain confidential, employers are
provided with a snapshot of employee health concerns, needs and
interests.
"This self-reported, employee perspective can be
integrated, where appropriate, with other key health information
such as drug claims data," says Equitable Life's Martin
Chung. "The result will be actionable insights that can
assist in determining which actions will generate the greatest
desired impact on each employer's unique health and wellness
situation."

understand their health, identify health risk factors and/or
reinforce good lifestyle habits and manage their
health.
