Equitable Life Welcomes Donna Carbell and Tara Proper to the Executive Leadership Team
September 14, 2021 - Equitable Life of Canada today announced leadership changes, as long tenured members of the executive team, Karen Mason, SVP Individual and Paul English, SVP Investments, have announced their intent to retire at the end of the year.
Donna Carbell will join Equitable Life in the role of Senior Vice President, Individual Insurance and Tara Proper will transition from her role as Vice President Capital Markets to Senior Vice President, Investments, effective immediately.

Individual Insurance
Donna Carbell joins the executive leadership team as Senior Vice President, Individual Insurance, overseeing product development, distribution, marketing and client service for the line of business. Ms. Carbell’s more than 20 years' experience brings a wealth of cross functional industry knowledge to the executive team. During her tenure at Manulife, Ms. Carbell was Head of Group Benefits, Customer Experience and had senior roles in Investments and Securities, Insurance, and Retirement.
Investments and Asset Management
Tara Proper has been appointed Senior Vice President, Investment, and will be responsible for leading the Equitable Asset Management Group, which manages the company’s overall investment portfolio and segregated funds. Ms. Proper has built her 24-year career at Equitable Life and brings valuable investment knowledge that has contributed to Equitable Life’s growth. Over her tenure, Ms. Proper has served as Vice President Capital Markets, and other progressive roles within the Asset Management Group.
