Barry McInerney is a leader in the investment industry with more than 30 years of experience leading Canadian, US and global investment companies. He is also a frequent speaker on the topics of global investment, demographic, geo-economic and capital market trends.

After a six-year tenure as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Mackenzie Investments, he retired in June 2022. Prior to that, he was Co-Chief Executive Officer of BMO Global Asset Management, Managing Director for Russell Investments, and held a number of senior leadership positions at Mercer Inc.

Barry is currently on the boards of The Equitable Life Insurance Company of Canada, the Rotman School of Management’s Dean Advisory Board, and the Tobacco Free Portfolios Foundation Board.

Barry is a graduate of the Master of Business Administration and Bachelor of Commerce programs from the University of Toronto – Rotman School of Management. He also holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) and Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries (FCIA) designations.
