Overall Purpose:

The incumbent is responsible for providing technical actuarial support to the Group Division.  This is accomplished by providing technical solutions and expertise to the business to support pricing (internal and external tools), financial reporting, planning, Group Marketing Manager Compensation (sales, profitability, retention, discounting), advisor compensation programs, as well as a multitude of data requests/support (internal and external).

 

Accountabilities:

  • Completion of month-end, quarter-end and year-end financial reporting tasks
  • Development and maintenance of the complex tool to support the annual planning process
  • Development and maintenance of the complex tools to support the reporting of sales, profitability, retention and discounting on our group business, which forms the basis of Group Marketing Manager compensation
  • Resident expert on the data cubes to support the Group business
  • Responsible for the multitude of surveys the Group division participates in
  • Pricing analysis to support the pricing and profitability of the Group business
  • Development and maintenance of the internal tools to support Group pricing

Qualifications:

  • Advanced Visual Basic, Access and Excel (in particular Microsoft Query and use of pivot tables)
  • Solid knowledge of how group insurance operates
  • Superior analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong understanding of BMS which is the Group Administration system
  • Solid understanding of actuarial principles, as it relates to pricing and financial reporting
  • Effective influencing skills – Ability to influence customers on processes & applications
